中学２･3年生Ⅲ類型「国際交流特別授業」を行いました。
中学２･3年生Ⅲ類型「国際交流特別授業」を行いました。
2020年2月8日（土）に中学３年生１・２限に、中学２年生は３・４限に、京都をはじめ、近畿圏内の大学に留学生として来られている方１９名をお招きして、「国際交流特別授業」を行いました。
生徒たち３，４名のグループにつき留学生の方に１人ずつ入っていただいて、今まで学習してきたことを駆使し、質問をしたり、また反対に質問に答えたり、一緒に日本の遊びをしたりなど、英語を実際に使ってみる２時間を存分に楽しめた様子でした。
今までの参加者の出身国
２０１６年度：ハンガリー、中国、モンゴル、インドネシア、パレスチナ、アメリカ、マレーシア、クロアチア、トルコ、エジプト、韓国、ベトナム、タンザニア、タジキスタン、ボリビア、ケニア、ウクライナ
２０１７年度：中国、トルコ、インドネシア、イギリス、メキシコ、ドイツ、インド、オランダ、フランス、マケドニヤ、スペイン、ブラジル、ニュージーランド、アメリカ
２０１８・１９年度：中国、キルギス、カザフスタン、ドイツ、インドネシア、スウェーデン、オーストラリア、ネパール、ベトナム、ニュージーランド、カナダ、タイ、エジプト、トルコ、ブラジル
今年度の参加国も、中国、トルコ、フィリピン、ベトナム、イギリス、メキシコ、ドイツ、インド、イタリア、フランス、スペイン、ルーマニア、キューバ、アメリカと非常に多岐にわたり、５回目であるにもかかわらず、今までには来られなかった国からの参加者もいました。世界はまだまだ広いということを実感しました。留学生の方からも、文化や言語に関する写真や映像などを用いて母国のことを説明していただき、生徒たちは熱心に聞き入っていました。
生徒たちも、留学生の方の母国語であいさつをしてみたり、京都の人気の観光スポットやおいしい和菓子が食べられるお店を紹介したりするなど、留学生の方に喜んでいただけるよう、様々な工夫をしていました。
また、特別授業後、留学生の方から英語学習のアドバイスなどのコメントをもらうことができました。一部掲載させていただきます。
(1) I already worked with students on different levels in foreign languages (German, English, French and Japanese). I also worked in a high school in Kyoto once and I must say, I was quite surprised by the level of your students. In Germany we value free and spontaneous conversation in foreign language class, but depending on the school system some students can’t learn the ability to do so. I think your students were more open for spontaneous questions and it felt as if they had quite some vocabulary.
To the 2nd graders: Even though your vocabulary is still limited, you managed to hold up a conversation with me and be enthusiastic about speaking a foreign language with a stranger. Thank you for the nice chat and sharing your interests with me!
To the 3rd graders: Some of you were very open and dynamic and did not hold back with your questions. You managed to understand my questions and give spontaneous replies. Thank you for your time and keep up with your hard work!
(2) Make learning fun. Just repeating vocabulary lists can be difficult for some learners. Try to combine your hobbies and interests with the language you learn: watch movies (with subtitles), subscribe to instagram pages for some daily short texts to read on your way to school (keywords: English, learning English, 英語 etc.) Same works for youtube, twitter etc.
Try to read as much as possible to increase your vocabulary! In conversation vocabulary is more important than grammar (and more fun).
(3) Keep up with your work! Learning a foreign language can be difficult but it’s a great way to learn about the world, the people in other countries and might help you in the future when traveling or speaking to foreigners!
(4) Thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate! I’m becoming a teacher myself and I’m always curious how to introduce students to authentic speaking / language situations!
